Moat House Valentines Day Wedding with Fi + Nick

I met Fi back when Covid hit, I had started up a fruit and veg box delivery business to make up for all the cancelled weddings, fast forward 5 years when she got in touch about me photographing her wedding to Nick, at The Moat House, Acton Trussel, on Valentines day. They met each other at Foregate Vintage Emporium in Stafford, a place where all things vintage are sold by different traders, because of this they chose a 1920s theme for their wedding day. They also chose the most romantic day of the year to get married, Valentines Day.

After spending a bit of time with Nick finishing up getting ready at home, when I say getting ready I mean mainly having a few whiskeys! I then headed to The Moat House, a Grade ii listed Staffordshire manor house with gardens, ready for their ceremony under the oak beams in the oldest part of the house. Being a Staffordshire wedding photographer this is one venue that is very local for me and is a fantastic wedding venue to have on my doorstep.

Fi has a real flair for decoration so the ceremony room, entrance hall and reception room were all impeccably decorated with unusual and vintage items, old photographs and personal items reflecting Nicks military career. The gold gramophone was a real highlight for me, the fact that it still worked was amazing!

After the ceremony we made the most of the last the daylight by doing the confetti – petals from which Fi had saved from bouquets of flowers Nick had bought her. Group photos and portraits of just the two of them had to be done in the dark – a real test of 16 years experience photographing weddings. After some emotional speeches, including ones made by Fi’s two children, friends and family who had all dressed according to the 1920s theme, tucked into some relaxed food.

Nick being a former strongman competitor it seemed totally appropriate that the honeymoon that followed was going to be epic, the newly-weds headed to Scotland to lift some stones and raise some money for Combat Stress – a charity who provide specialist treatment and support for veterans.
