My first wedding of 2026 was at The Moat house in Acton Trussell and my last wedding of 2025 was at, you guessed it, the very same Moat House! Being a Staffordshire wedding photographer it’s always nice to have a local wedding, like buses I haven’t had a wedding at this venue in quite a few years, then all of a sudden I get two together in a very short space of time! This lovely Staffordshire venue allows couples to have a bespoke wedding day and that’s exactly what Carl + Di wanted. With only a few close family and friends in attendance their wedding ceremony was held in the library, which was then turned around whilst we did photos and they had their drinks reception.
From the outset I knew Carl + Di were my kind of people, Carl sent me a text saying he loved my style of photography and philosophy and also mentioned that he and Di had a dog called Frank and that Carl was a senior Lego model designer for Lego video games. They couldn’t have ticked more perfect fit couple boxes if they’d tried!
After meeting up at their house for a glass of vino to have a chat, look at Lego, fuss Frank and talk cars, the deal was sealed and they booked me to take photos at their wedding.
They had been together for 10 years and engaged for 8 so Di went all out wearing a beautiful Justin Alexander gown, the wedding cake was a big Lego brick with smaller ones that matched their colour scheme, coming out of the middle, there were lots of little detail Lego nods as part of Carl’s attire.
I had known from our chats that Carls Mum hadn’t been too well so made sure I paid special attention on the day to photograph some moments with her in. Even though the ceremony was at 2pm, the newly weds were treated to a nice little sunset, which in December is rare and gave us chance for a few bride and groom photos next to the canal with the sun setting in the background.
As with the rest of their wedding day they had booked a bespoke wedding photography package with myself, 6 hours covered everything that was important to them during the wedding day.
