Getting married at The Orangery Ingestre?
If you’re looking for a wedding photographer who will keep things relaxed, take natural photographs and let you get on with enjoying your wedding, you’re in the right place.
I photograph weddings in a documentary style. I won’t have you posing for hours or disappear with you for half the day. I’ll photograph what happens naturally, while making sure you get the important photographs you want. No awkward poses!
And The Orangery at Ingestre is a brilliant place to do that. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing at this fantastic wedding venue a couple of times now and each time has been amazing.
The Orangery Ingestre wedding venue
The Orangery is tucked away in the Staffordshire countryside, within the historic Ingestre Estate. The building dates back to the 1840s, when it was built as a glasshouse for growing exotic plants for the Earls of Shrewsbury. It’s now a Grade II-listed building that has been carefully restored and turned into a Staffordshire wedding and events venue.
It’s got plenty of character without feeling like a traditional hotel wedding venue. The staff all work together seamlessly and getting to spend the day here taking wedding photos is a pleasure.
The large windows and glass roof make the main space particularly good for photographs, with lots of natural light during the day. Outside, you’ve got plenty of outdoor space, so there are plenty of options for photographs without having to travel anywhere. One of the best things I think, The Orangery is also an exclusive-use venue, so you have the building and surrounding grounds to yourselves for your wedding.
Getting married at The Orangery
One of the things I like about The Orangery is that there isn’t one set way to have your wedding there.
The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies, and you can get married inside the Orangery beneath the glass ceiling or outside amongst the Yew trees. There’s also the option of having a traditional church ceremony at nearby St Mary’s Church in Ingestre. For photography, that gives us plenty to work with.
If the weather is good, we can make the most of the gardens and outdoor spaces. If it’s raining, the Orangery itself gives us a great indoor setting with plenty of natural light.
You don’t need perfect weather for good photographs here.
A venue that’s easy to make your own
The Orangery is fairly flexible when it comes to how you want your wedding to look and feel.
The venue describes itself as a blank canvas, and you can choose how formal or relaxed you want the day to be. There is space for a seated wedding breakfast for up to 72 guests, or a more informal celebration for up to 120 people. A real bonus being that you can also choose your own caterer.
So whether you’re planning a small wedding with close family or a bigger party with everyone you’ve ever met, the space can be adapted around you.
Your wedding won’t be exactly the same as everyone else’s, so I’ll photograph what makes yours different, it also wont be the same at the last wedding I photographed at this Staffordshire venue. Your day will reflect you both, your personalities, your quirks and the things that make you both individuals.
Why The Orangery is great for wedding photography
There are a few things that make The Orangery particularly good for photographs.
The natural light.
Those big windows and the glass ceiling give the main room plenty of light, which works particularly well for natural photographs.
The gardens.
There are lots of places to take photographs outside without making you walk miles or spend ages away from your guests.
The historic building.
The Orangery has genuine character and history, rather than looking like a generic modern wedding venue, all this with the ability to dress it however you like and in whatever style suits you both best.
The flexibility.
You can have your ceremony, drinks, photographs and reception in and around the same setting, so the photography can fit naturally into the day.
The privacy.
With exclusive use of the venue and grounds, you can relax without feeling like you’re sharing the space with another wedding or a stream of hotel guests.
Relaxed wedding photography at The Orangery
My approach is pretty simple, relaxed and natural. Most of the day I’ll be working quietly in the background, looking for what’s happening. I spend a lot of a wedding day looking and watching. Watching where the loudest laughs are coming from, looking for little moments between two people, watching how people interact, looking at relationships between people and watching for the best spot to capture these from.
I’ll photograph the things you actually want to remember. Real moments captured as they happen, no staged moments or awkward posing.
Your friends arriving. Your parents seeing you for the first time. The ceremony. Confetti. Drinks in the garden. People laughing during the speeches. Your grandparents dancing. Your mates on the dance floor.
I’ll also take some photographs of the two of you, now this is the bit where all my skills are shown, you don’t need to be good at having your photograph taken, or even enjoy having your photo taken. In fact most couples that book me to take photos at their wedding, say they hate having their photo taken!
We’ll go for a walk around the gardens, have a chat and just take a few minutes together away from everyone else. You will naturally be interacting with your new husband or wife and I will take photos of that. Natural moments captured in the most natural way. No awkward poses no asking you to recreate something from another wedding or something that’s ‘on trend’.
The aim isn’t to create a load of photographs where you’re standing perfectly still and smiling at the camera. It’s to get photographs that actually look and feel like you.
Your wedding at The Orangery Ingestre
The Orangery is one of those venues where you can make the day your own.
You have the historic building, the gardens and the Staffordshire countryside around you, but you’re not tied to a particular style of wedding. I’ll blend in when things are happening naturally, step in when a little organisation is needed and make sure you have photographs of the people and parts of the day that matter to you. Confetti and group photos are the main bits that need a little help from me and with over 12 years of experience photographing weddings all over Staffordshire and beyond, I’m used to capturing both these wedding day moments.
No complicated posing.
No spending hours away from your guests.
Just relaxed wedding photography at The Orangery Ingestre.

Real words from a groom whose wedding I photographed at The Orangery Ingestre.
Rosie is wonderful.
We got married in April 2026 but we had stumbled across Rosie through google in August 2025, we were drawn to her by her excellent website which shows her down to earth personality and we loved the idea of candid, relaxed, non-staged photos that actually capture people having fun at the wedding.
The booking process was a breeze and Rosie was very patient with us throughout, especially when as we were probably quite bad at communicating on time. We had a phone call with her in the few weeks before the wedding and everything felt very relaxed and laid back, it was exactly what we needed with the stress of everything else.
Rosie was also very flexible with us on the day, as she didn’t know whether she was going to take photos at the groom’s house or not until about half an hour before she was due to be there.
She captured some truly beautiful moments, both of the quiet and emotional moments of the day as well as the partying and laughter. She was also brilliant with the bride’s little brother who was the only child of his age range in attendance. On what could have been a very boring or stressful day for him, Rosie took him under her wing as her assistant for the day and he had a fantastic time.
Rosie is truly fantastic and we would absolutely recommend her to anyone, especially if you’re the sort of person who hates posing for photos.
