Broadoaks country house wedding.

I’m ashamed to say that I’m only just blogging this wedding from January. In fact I’m on a mammoth blogging spree so prepare for an onslaught!

Broadoaks country house is up in the beautiful Lake District and has views across to Lake Windermere and Langdale Pikes. It has intimate spaces inside with inglenook fireplaces and period furniture. It has a sweeping drive way and is made from traditional Lake District stone and slate.

After getting engaged during a trip to the Lakes, Jules and Jakki had talked about the possibility of finding a hotel in the Lakes for their wedding, it had to be gay friendly but it also had to be dog friendly too, as they had a furry daughter who is also very much part of the family.

So back in January I got to head out of Staffordshire with my cameras to join Jakki, Jules, their two sons and friends and family up in the stunning Lake District.

They started the day getting ready together in one of the venues luxury garden suits, friends and family popped in during the morning and there were plenty of cups of tea drank! They then went into separate rooms to change into their wedding outfits, meeting again for the very emotional ceremony.

After the civil ceremony the three of us jumped into my car (it was raining – typical Lake District weather!) and nipped down the lane for some alone time photos of just the two of them. Having Lake Windermere, Herdwick sheep and Langdale Pikes as a photographer I was in my element! Add two brides into that and as a wedding photographer I was made up!

Surprise drag queen!

Jak had always wanted a drag queen to host the evening entertainment and Dixie certainly made an impact on their guests. This was kept as a surprise, so reactions were priceless.
