The Mill wedding with Sam + Louis.

Sam and Louis chose The Mill in Stone, Staffordshire as the venue for their perfectly colorful, relaxed wedding. This old flour mill is now a family run wedding venue in the heart of Stone and the attention to detail Jose and his team give every wedding is second to none. Their wedding day took place in September which is my favourite month for photographing a wedding, the weather always seems to have settled, it’s not too hot or too cold and the evening light can be fantastic for photos just as the sun in getting low in the sky. On the initial contact form Sam and Louis had mentioned their two dogs Izzy and Newt – who even managed to make an appearance on the actual day. After meeting them and their dogs when we had a chat about getting a plan together for on the day itself and after consuming many biscuits I knew photographing their day was going to be great.

Being super local to me meant a fifteen minute journey with my camera gear and I was ready to roll, starting by capturing some shots of Sam having the final touches done to her hair and make and getting in her bridal gown. Her bridal parties reactions to seeing her for the first time in her dress was definitely one of my favourite photos, as was the moment her Dad got to see his daughter in her wedding dress, all ready to get married.

Every time I’ve photographed a wedding at The Mill, the ceremony has been outside, which was the perfect setting for Sam and Louis’s nuptials. The colours of floral displays really shone in the natural light. After the ceremony the guests assembled for throwing confetti whilst the newly weds walked down a line of out stretched hands. Whilst wedding guests sipped on sangria in the sun I worked my way through a list of family and friend group photos, finishing with some relaxed portraits of just the two of them with Izzy and Newt. Who doesn’t love a wedding photo that includes dogs?!

The rest of the day went by with the bride and grooms friends and family all enjoying a relaxed wedding breakfast and drinks outside, just at the sun was starting to drop low in the sky, I took a few more photos in the glorious golden hour light, giving the couple a few more photos of just the two of them on their special day. We then headed back inside the venue for the cutting of the cake and first dance, after which the dance floor quickly filled, people forgot I was there taking photos and moves were made, including the sister of the groom being picked up!
