Having been a Staffordshire wedding photographer for over 13 years there’s not much I haven’t come across or dealt with and I’m pretty used to working under pressure, although I don’t really see it or feel it! Amanda and Lee’s wedding however, was a first! I was booked a week before their wedding. I don’t think they had planned on having a photographer, as they were having a really low key wedding day, with a short, registry office ceremony with both their Mum’s followed by a meal with a handful of close family members. – One of which was sister in law Sarah, who booked me as a wedding present, the very same Sarah featured in an earlier blog with her husband Jerome.
I met Amanda and Lee at Stafford registry office, whilst I photographed their wedding ceremony, other members of the family joined together outside ready for some confetti throwing. Rather than taking any photos in Stafford we all headed to Croxden Abbey for some family group photos. As there were 5 children, of different ages included in these photos, the setting of the abbey ruins was perfect for some informal, relaxed group shots. As the wedding party were heading for a meal at The Duncombe Arms and were running late, I had to work fast on taking photos of just the two of them. To be honest, this wasn’t really any different to how I normally work a wedding anyways, I don’t believe in dragging couples away for their wedding for ages when I take their portraits. 20 minutes is the average amount of time I spend capturing these images and for Amanda and Lee it worked perfectly. We managed to get some fun, relaxed wedding photos where their personalities and relationship took center stage.
