Weston Super Mare Wedding with Katie + Tony

This wedding blog post is a bit over due but I was looking back through some old galleries and remembered what a fantastic wedding day it was, so colourful, unique and the weather was glorious. I’m not sure why I didn’t get round to blogging it before now!

The wedding itself took place in May 2022 (I told you this post was long overdue), but at the end of 2021 Katie, an old school friend back from my days of living down South in Weston Super Mare got in touch to say she was looking for a photographer for her wedding, she was on a super tight budget and needed a bit of help. Even further back than 2021 Katie had helped me out and was a thoroughly nice person , so I thought it was only fair to repay that help, plus it gave me an excuse to visit my old home ground for the weekend.

Neither Katie or her husband to be Tony wanted tons of staged photos and both Katie and her Dad were made up that someone she had known since she was a child, was doing her wedding photos, so the deal was done and on May 28th I headed off down to Somerset with my cameras.

One photo Katie did want was of her and Tony on a a little stone bridge – one that she drives across every day and that was 5 minutes from the church and village hall where everything on the wedding day was happening. Needless to say, we made that photo happen.

I spent the first part of the day with Katie and her bridesmaids who were getting ready at her Dads house in Hutton, the very same village Katie and I met at primary school. I then met Tony at the church in Wick St Lawrence, playing the piano in said church was our old Headteacher. After the church ceremony Katie, Tony and their wedding guests all walked down the country lane to the village hall which had been beautifully decorated. A hog roast, wall of crisps, karaoke and an appearance by Wilson the Whippet all helped the evening celebrations.

We were treated to some gorgeous Spring early evening light, so we headed to the bridge and made the wedding portrait Katie had wanted.

Whilst a large proportion of the wedding photos I take are in Staffordshire, I also enjoy traveling to different places for weddings. Over the years I photographed weddings in Rhodes, Oxford, London, Cumbria and Wales, so if you’re not getting married in Staffordshire or you’re on a budget, still get in touch!
