As a documentary wedding photographer I spend a lot of time at a wedding watching. I will watch your guests and pick up on little moments that might otherwise get missed. This photo is one of my favourite examples of this and I thought it deserved a blog post all of it’s own.
In 12 years of photographing weddings and being a professional Staffordshire wedding photographer, I’ve noticed little people at weddings can often provide great photos. Maybe it’s because they’re not so self conscious or aware of the camera as adult wedding guests or maybe it’s just because they’re happy being them and doing their own thing.
Like 99% of my photos this is a totally unposed, natural moment. It took place just after the wedding ceremony of Tori and Holly, who got married at the stunning Bodleian Library in Oxford.
My belief is that the best wedding pictures are made when the moment or situation is real and when the people in them are just being their authentic selves. I hope you’ll agree that this photo ticks all those boxes.
