Favourite photo of a Staffordshire wedding photographer.
After spending some time going through loads of the photos I’ve taken at weddings over the years, I realised there are always ones that stand out. There are lot’s that I’ve taken and kind of forgotten about too. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t forgotten any of the weddings I’ve been at and I can tell you the names of ALL my past couples, but photos wise, I’ve taken thousands and thousands and once I’ve blogged them I don’t often see them that much again.
So I thought it was about time to dig into the vaults and give them some exposure.
Manchester Victoria Warehouse Wedding.
Victoria Warehouse has stood for almost 100 years and many of it’s original features have been preserved, creating a completely unique venue to hold a wedding. It somehow manages to mix raw and industrial with glitz and glamour and for a wedding photographer like me, I was loving the exposed walls and concrete floors.
Natural wedding photography.
A massive part of my photography on a wedding day is the natural, unposed, capturing emotion kind. (I still make time for the family group photos that you will want to keep Mum and Dad happy! Find out more about ‘my style’ of photography.)
A lot of of my photos are also taken when the people or person in them doesn’t realise. This allows me to totally capture someones personality naturally, as they really are, or to catch real, honest emotion as it happens – in a way that I just wouldn’t be able to get if I tried to pose them.
What I actually love about this image is that the two little girls in it do know that I’m taking their photo but because they were so involved with whatever was going on between them, the expressions on their faces still convey that feeling.
I think after spending ten years working with little people, now when I’m at a wedding I’ve always got half an eye on what they are up to. This image is exactly why.
If it was two adults in the same situation I’m pretty sure their reaction to me taking the picture would have been different, the situation would have changed, (something I always try and avoid doing when I’m taking photos) and I wouldn’t have captured the feeling. (-something I aim to always do.)
Like this kind of photo? I’d very much like you to get in touch!
